Process management utility for PC

FreezeToStock is a free utility by indie developer Robert C. Maehl, also known as rcmaehl. This tool serves as a task manager for background processes and services running in Windows and lets them pause non-essential ones. This is to lessen CPU usage and free up memory for other tasks.

FreezeToStock works in a similar manner to other utilities like Task Manager DeLuxe or Task Killer, only instead of completely terminating a process or service, it merely pauses their operation. This makes it easier to run them back again without having to figure out which program or function they're responsible for.

How does FreezeToStock work?

In a nutshell, FreezeToStock is a utility tool that you can use to temporarily disable processes and services running in the background so that you can minimize CPU and RAM usage, and optimize your system for other tasks that require a lot of resources, such as gaming. It turns your PC back to its stock configuration ala fresh install, without all the bloatware that negatively impacts performance.

It comes in a compact user interface that is easy to understand and use. Choose whether you want to temporarily freeze your processes and services or stop them completely by ticking on their corresponding checkboxes. Optionally, you can go to the Exclusions menu to whitelist certain one from being affected by the process. Otherwise, you can go ahead and click on the Freeze System button to start.

Using FreezeToStock is a great way to ensure that you can have a clean and well-optimized system all the time. It is also beneficial when it comes to gaming since it can free up valuable resources that are needed to run intensive games and get the best performance possible while playing them. Just know that using this utility requires extensive knowledge and it's meant for advanced and experienced users.

Running in tip-top shape

Regardless of whether you'll use it for gaming or to improve overall system performance, FreezeToStock is a great tool that everyone should have around. The improvements that can be gained from using it are apparent, making it quite an indispensable program. It's easy to use and you even have control of what gets included in the process. Highly recommended.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
